Monday Feb 16th, 2009:  The  organizing committee of the David Lipscomb Football Alumni Association met at Lipscomb University's Athletic Department Conference in Allen Arena.  The group designated  of group of officers for the coming year.  The officers include:  David Shaub as President, Bayron Binkley as V.P. and President Elect, George Tucker as Secretary, Tim Bebout as Treasurer, Ron Reasonover as Communications and Information.  Also in attendance at the meeting was David Nannie,  John Coles, David Turner, Glenn McCadams, and Neal Dugger.

The critical process begins for the Association as the need now calls for email addresses.  All former players should be contacted by a teammate with the request for contact information in the coming weeks.  The purpose for email addresses is to send a newsletter informing on what is taking place within the Association.  Please monitor this page for future updates.  For those who are interested...there will additional opportunities for other members to take active roles for upcoming projects.

We believe that we have establish some very unique and special activities for this group.  I hope that you will want to be a part of this Association.  Secretary George Tucker is asking those Facebook members to be sure and join the David Lipscomb High School Football Network.  If you are not on Facebook,  we encourage you to look into it and join.

We have a group of guys who are currently looking for help with individual teams of the past of securing email addresses from from those seniors.  If you can help with your fellow seniors on your team please contact us.

 
The David Lipscomb Football Alumni Association Website..2009 Updated Information Below...Check back For Future Updates and News Releases...
Several  former Mustang players and their families have formed a group call the David Lipscomb High School Football Alumni Association.  The purpose of this group is to encourage former players and their families to actively support and get reacquainted with this successful  football program they help developed.  Coach Mac and the school's administration have issued their blessings and support to this endeavor.

Those who are eligible for Membership
 All former players, Coaches, Managers and those immediate family members who considered themselves a part of the program's legacy.
 
   

 Is there a cost of this Membership?         
This will be an evolving entity.  Year one is dedicated  to identify and encourage those former players and their immediate families to support the Mustangs and to reacquaint those who have lost track of the program.  There is no initial membership fee nor  solicitation of financial support.
              

 

What is the Involvement Criteria?
We are encouraging you to become more involved with the Lipscomb Game Day Experience.  Some suggested opportunities:
 1)  Become a member of the Purple Shoe Gang.  This group meets around 12:00PM at the field on home game days.  This group which already includes parents of current players, parents of former players, former players, relatives, general fans, and neighborhood friends who gather to paint the and decorate the field for that night's game.  Coach Mac generally comes around and talks about what to expect  from that week's opponent and comments on the state of the program and other topics that are at hand.  Some will even go into the Coach's office and watch game film on the night's opponent.  Each year, The Purple Shoe Gang is honored by a fish fry given by a former player's Dad, Bo Wilkerson.  Purity Dairy has also been known to bring ice cream treats. At the annual Football Banquet, members of the Purple Shoe Gang is recognized by the Team and awarded the official Purple Shoe Gang T-Shirt provided by the Booster Club.  Male and Female participation is welcomed.

2)  Join the Pre-game Tailgate Party Pot Luck.  Each week, fans gather before the game in the picnic area adjoining the weight room and the ticket booth for a pot luck tailgate party.  The grilles are left on for those who wish to bring steak, burgers, chicken, wild game or simply heat up your special chili dish.  Everyone is invited to participate.  Its a good time to meet old friends and fellowship  with new friends in a comfortable atmosphere.

3) Come to the Regular Season Home Games Free of Charge.  You and your immediate family (whoever you consider "immediate) are invited to attend all of the regular season home games as the honored guest of Coach Mac, David Lipscomb High School, and the Lipscomb Football Alumni Association.  More information on this process to follow.

4)  There may also be opportunities for those individuals who may want to become more involved in the Game Day Experience.  These may include activities tied in with the Radio Broadcast, Internet Webcast, Sports Information, The Mustangfanpage.  The Sports Media Guide.  Leadership roles available for the Football Alumni Association.  Press Box Concierges.  Others may be added. ***See bottom of page.

   
         
Special Activities    

The Football Alumni Association will be planning some special activities during the season.  Such as honoring players of teams of the past during the half time activities and trivia games.  The School will also invite a specific team back on "Alumni Night."  For those who have not been back for some time, you can arrangements for a tour of the renovated buildings on the main campus along with tours of the locker room, weight room, and the newly renovated and enlarged press box.  Other events and activities will be announced on this page during the season as well.  Coach Mac also invites all former players in attendance to come into the Mustang locker room for the team's post game meeting and prayer after each Lipscomb home "VICTORY"

   
         
Process for Getting  Your Free Tickets    

We will not be giving away passes or individual tickets to the games.  The process is a simple one handled via email and the internet.  You can order tickets for you and your immediate family here on this website.  Your name and number of tickets will be given to the Box Office at the field prior to each home game. It will be handled as "Will Call"  Please order your tickets only during the week of the current game.  (Please don't order for future games)  Exclusion:  You are not eligible for the free tickets if you have a family member on the current team.  You will simple need to email your request and the number of tickets for your immediate family.  Be sure in your email that your name is clearly noted.  Absolute deadline for sending in your ticket request is 10:00AM.
