Intramural Football
                                              The Lipscomb Football Chronicles
Somewhere around 1960-61, David Lipscomb High School out of its P.E. department began organizing and playing  intramural football.  Equipment used by the boys came down from the David Lipscomb College, who experimented with the idea for a number of years.   With the renewal of the Varsity Football team in 1967, intramural football was then moved to the Junior High.  From 1960(61) teams would practice and then play each other.  As the program moved into the junior high ranks, the two teams would play each other during the half time of the varsity game.  While no one could remember who was the coordinator was in the early days, but Ken Head headed the Jr. High version until a formal Jr. High Football team came to play in the fall of 1970 under Coach Maurice Brunelle and his assistant Eddie Montgomery.  It should be noted that the first Jr. High team finished its season undefeated and unscored on.
